Job Function Summary:

Responsible for managing the calibration system including ensuring calibration instructions are maintained, equipment is calibrated properly, and the completed calibration paperwork is reviewed and filed in a timely manner.

Job Functions:

  • Maintains calibration system to ensure equipment is calibrated on-time and at the appropriate cost.
  • Assists in creating calibration instructions for individual equipment based on the range and tolerance required.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures for calibration are maintained and in compliance with 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485: 2016.
  • Ensures new equipment is added to the calibration schedule and that the equipment calibration is NIST traceable.
  • Reviews calibration work orders and certificates for compliance to instructions and verifies that specifications have been met.
  • Initiates and assists with completing Out Of Tolerance (OOT) Reports for failed calibrations.
  • Initiates Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for calibration events that adversely affect product and works with the NCR team to investigate, determine root cause and take action to remediate and prevent the nonconformance.
  • Lead for calibration improvement projects and transfer of equipment requiring calibration to new facility.
  • Serves as the department representative for Calibration on CAPAs and other special projects as needed.
  • Assists with other related tasks as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and handle a number of projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of Agile, Blue Mountain or other asset management software is preferred. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ previous work experience in calibration or metrology in an FDA regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of principle compliance focused on 21 CFR 820.72, inspection, measuring and test equipment; and ISO 13485, medical devices, quality management systems for regulatory purposes.
