The Director of Compensation is a critical position within HR Operations responsible for managing the compensation function for the Americas region. The Compensation Director works closely with Group Compensation and Americas HR leaders to ensure that compensation programs meet the needs of the Americas region and provide competitive pay and rewards to all employees. This position also implements Getinge’s compensation programs, policies and procedures. The Compensation Director is responsible for audits, legal reports and ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

Global and regional reward policies and programs

o             Develop and implement processes that ensure a highly efficient day to day development and administration of compensation and benefits programs with particular focus on the Americas region. These programs may include: job evaluation; salary process and structure; short-term incentive plans; expatriate compensation; executive compensation etc.

o             Introduction of system support where appropriate

o             Participate in or drive global and/or regional compensation & benefit projects as required. Provide expertise support as needed in global, regional or local projects

Job evaluation and grading structure

o             Provide advice to the HR community on job evaluation as well as carry out evaluations using the Management Position Evaluation Scheme (IPE).

o             Lead or participate in the development and maintenance of a grading structure / Global Job Family Framework

Market data

o             Analyze and evaluate external market data and internal data about the current and projected employee population to develop salary budgets and forecasts.

o             Ensure local submission of data to market data surveys, working closely with local HR

o             In liaison with the VP Compensation & Benefits, select and manage relationships with consultants and suppliers to ensure satisfactory standards of service

Consult, advise and train

o             Provide professional, specialist advice to the HR community on reward policy and processes as required to ensure professional HR competence is given and carried out in line with the company’s corporate policies and values.

o             Develop direct report(s) to high levels of peak performance, with a focus on development and servant leadership

o             Provide training within the reward area to HR and, if relevant, managers and employees

Quality System Duties and Responsibilities:

Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.


  • 10+ years related corporate/executive compensation experience within a global Human Resources function in an international midsize corporation
  • Relevant Bachelor’s/academic degree
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills  
  • Project management experience in international context
  • Extensive experience of  job evaluation methodologies (IPE)
  • Experience in handling International Assignments procedures
  • Knowledge of tax and pension regulations
  • Experience from working with remuneration models, bonus schemes, pension and insurance issues
  • Experience of HR systems and tools, Success Factors experience desirable
  • Substantial and successful experience from Human Resources, with a focus on compensation and benefits e.g. salary packages, other benefits and pension schemes
  • LTI experience (design and management) would be a PLUS

Qualities and Skills:

  • Analytical, detail focused with clear focus on high quality
  • Good presentation and training skills – making the complex simple through advanced communication of specialist concepts to HR, managers, and direct reports
  • Able to truly drive change through involvement of the wider organization
  • High integrity and ethics
