Tenders and Contracts Team Lead

Responsible for leading the tenders and contracts staff as well as service contract staff. Plan and determine department performance targets.  Manage the workflow and opportunities which contribute toward organizational goals and which support the Company’s overall mission. Motivates team members and assesses performance. Provides help to management, including hiring and training, and keeps management updated on team performance.

The Position

This role is responsible for:

  • Handle escalated incidents that cannot be resolved by first line tenders and contracts team.
  • Train and on board new hires.
  • Maintain and analyze performance to ensure targets are being met.
  • Work with management on tenders and contracts initiatives.
  • Manage workflow within the team and determine plan for coverage.
  • Determine opportunities within the department.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to all direct reports. Ensure all direct reports are properly trained and have the basic skills necessary to perform and complete their assigned task.
  • Compile, verify, record and process sales information and other forms and documents in accordance with established procedures and schedules, using computerized and manual processing systems.
  • Authorize and issue quotes, tenders, RFP’s or other material after requested documents have been processed and approved.
  • Prepare reports and presentations and provide information to staff and clients regarding RFP/contract related issues.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of administrative procedures such as contracts administration, pricing committee and work schedules.
  • Complete tenders as required.
  • Manage a log of all tenders and contracts.
  • Manage records of technical answers, technical data, and all relevant information that could be used in tenders.
  • Collaborate with Operations manager to provide input and conduct discussions regarding performance. 
  • Act as a backup in the absence of any contracts and tenders employee(s).
  • Performing other related duties as required or assigned.

This role will be located in our Mississauga Office.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for the following experience, knowledge and abilities:

  • Applicable Diploma/Degree/Certificate in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience would be considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented.
  • Self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. 
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word and Outlook.
