Position Overview:

The Director Group Purchasing Americas will establish, develop and lead the Group Purchasing organization in Americas and report to the Vice President of Group Purchasing.  They will also provide strong leadership on a global basis, driving change in order to deliver a world class purchasing function with the vision to be an Industry leader in optimizing value  for our customers, through excellence in quality, people, strategy and execution.  The Group Purchasing organization is part of the Excel strategy, MWB5, with the aim to deliver significant business value for the company.  Hence the establishment of a group purchasing organization in Americas is part of the ongoing Group Purchasing  transformation.  The candidate will be essential to deliver expected values for the Group of indirect spend in Americas.  The successful candidate will be an effective professional business partner in an integrated structure that provides sustainable value and an attractive contribution to the company.

Job Details:

  • Responsible to recruit and establish a high performing group purchasing organization to deliver value for Getinge Group and all BA’s in Americas
  • Responsible to develop a center led purchasing  in Americas with global reach that can drive cost improvements that create a sustainable competitive advantage for the business
  • Be an ambassador for Group Purchasing within the BA’s to enable early engagement in sourcing activities to deliver business benefits to stakeholders
  • Develop and manage interface from the business areas, through either internal purchasing teams to the Suppliers, or directly to the Suppliers to deliver an efficient service
  • Leading cross-functional teams in delivering requested savings
  • Responsible to influence  business leaders engaging in Group Purchasing strategies by building business demands into category strategies

Sourcing Strategies:

  • Align sourcing initiative  to Group Purchasing Global Category Leaders strategies and business needs
  • Establish a robust governance structure to manage strategic preferred suppliers to drive continuous improvements and deliver savings year on year.
  • Leading major sourcing activities, directly or through the internal organization, and managing strategic suppliers’  contracts across all indirect services including but not limited to:  Facilities Management, Fleet, Contracting / Professional  Services, Travel, Marketing and IT.
  • Deliver savings year over years, of the total spend on $100-120 M.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • 10 years of business experience in purchasing and/or operations is required, preferable experience in managing indirect spend
  • MBA / Master’s degree with a focus on Scientific Technical, Business or Finance required
  • 5 years experience in purchasing and/or operations is required, preferable experience in managing indirect spend
  • Must have strong leadership and partnering skills to provide solid business and customer-focused conclusions and recommendations
  •  Must have strong influencing & motivational skills; ability to influence others
  • Must be a driven leader with excellent communication, organizational skills with the ability to influence and constructively challenge  cross-functional project teams and business partners to achieve project goals.
