Job Description

Job Function Summary:

Specify, develop, document and support machine and process control systems for all product lines, maintaining or enhancing production safety, quality and consistency.

Job Functions:

  • Create and maintain equipment design documentation, including equipment requirements, hardware specifications, software specifications, equipment configuration documents and test plans.
  • Configure and program PLCs, HMIs, servo systems and all other software driven controls components to operate production and test equipment in accordance with equipment requirements documents.
  • Perform control systems review activities including risk assessments, code reviews and design/drawing reviews.
  • Integrate and test control systems hardware and participate in equipment builds.
  • Test and debug PLC, HMI and instrumentation software.
  • Configure and test machine instruments, components and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical expertise during maintenance of production equipment in a controlled environment.
  • Support validation of new equipment and controls.
  • Interface with other departments such as Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing and R&D.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related duties as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of machine electrical and pneumatic control systems and related hardware.
  • Accurate – attention to detail and the ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Problem Solving – ability to understand a problem, devise and implement a solution.
  • Interpersonal – Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships with internal and external customers. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective organizational skills that include the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, gather facts, and exercise sound judgment in problem solving and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technical writing, with the ability to abstract and organize information for manufacturing equipment documentation. Must have good spelling, grammar, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in  Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years experience with industrical controls.
  • Design knowledge and experience in use of CAD, PLC and HMI software.
