Job Functions: (Primary “essential” duties and responsibilities)

  • Translates procedure needs, customer needs and customer feedback and requirements into user needs and ultimately design specifications for innovative products.
  • Conducts rapid prototyping and feasibility studies to evaluate concepts, verify capability and examine functionality.
  • Designs, defines and implements requirements and specifications using engineering methods and technologies.
  • Conducts design verification and validation testing.
  • Supports the transfer of design from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
  • Continuously improves process and work methodologies by interfacing with peers/cross-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
  • Reviews or coordinates vendor activities to support research and development.
  • Investigates and evaluates existing technologies.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills. Must be able to analyze, assess and determine solutions to problems, be able to manage multiple tasks and effectively communicate technical issues both orally and in writing.
  • Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point, or equivalent software applications.
  • Proficiency with electronic document control systems.
  • Versed in medical device design controls.
  • Familiar with medical device manufacturing processes, equipment and documentation.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and tools is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks CAD software highly desirable.

Experience and Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree plus approximately 2 - 4 years of related work experience, Master’s degree with 1 - 2 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
