Financial Planner and Analyst (FP&A)

The FP&A is responsible for performing monthly period-end duties, including preparation and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations. Liaise with Administration, Valuation and Pricing departments to produce accurate financial results. Report on monthly financial results and explain major variances from plan with value added commentary. Work with divisional heads to prepare monthly, quarterly forecasts, operational KPIs as well as participate in the annual budget cycle.

The Position

This role is responsible for:

  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly and annual planning and forecasting activities.
  • Identify and communicate financial/operational trends that represent a significant impact to the business.
  • Directly support monthly reporting and forecasting to Corporate and Senior Leadership Team by performing analytics on the financial performance of the business.
  • Manage Order book for accuracy, review Open Orders, ship dates, Pricing, etc.
  • Be responsible for performing some daily accounting tasks including bank reconciliation, preparation of journal entries and accruals.
  • Assist with the timely closing of financial statements: month, quarter and year-end closing.
  • Run Sales/Order reports as required, support sales team in data collection.
  • Maintain Qlikview App, so it is updated at min. twice per month.
  • Assist in reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
  • Forecast and monitor cash/expenses management.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of Policy and Procedures to enhance Internal Controls.
  • Partner with various individuals within finance and the business to improve control and efficiency.
  • Provide analysis to support monthly and periodic overviews of financial and operating performance.
  • Create and streamline executive friendly financial reporting for period end, forecasts and plan that form the basis of decision making.
  • Have sound understanding of the business model, across all service lines.
  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in firm wide Finance & Operations initiatives, fostering integration and collaboration across regions and services.
  • Work closely with the leadership team, Talent Advisors, Resource Management and project managers to assist in developing forecasts and short-term financial outlooks.
  • Prepare and disseminate commission reports and Sales group performance report.
  • Review and support miscellaneous financial requests.
  • Assist with audit requests.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Experience, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience.
  • Computer literacy; familiarity with information technology concepts, personal computers, Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong math skills and a solid understanding of financial terms.
  • Ability to perform data entry and communicate electronically with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply government codes.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all internal customers and external business contacts while conveying a positive, service-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment. 
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment.
