Job Function Summary:

Supports overall plant operations by providing engineering and project expertise to the Facility Operations Team.

Job Functions

  • Identifies operational problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and suggestions; interviewing process supervisors and operators; completing troubleshooting procedures.
  • Supports overall Plant Operations by maintaining and improving existing infrastructure while insuring compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Identifies operational priorities by assessing operational objectives; determining project objectives, such as, efficiency, cost savings, energy conservation, operator convenience, safety, environmental quality; estimating relevance, time, and costs.

  • Maintain and initiate continuous improvement projects to maintain and improve existing Systems to assure uninterrupted operational readiness.
  • Develops operational solutions by defining, studying, estimating, and screening alternative solutions; calculating economics; determining impact on total system.
  • Anticipates operational problems by studying operating targets and performance.  Provides operational reports to management.
  • Improves operational quality results by studying, evaluating, and recommending process re-design; implementing changes; contributing information and opinion to unit design and modification teams.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Insures building and production equipment are maintained and compliant to the highest standards.
  • Works closely with all levels of the organization to accomplish personal and company goals.
  • Lead and Manage facility related capital projects from inception to completion, insuring cross-functional team support.
  • Monitors and maintains Facilities related documentation, permits and associated service contracts.
  • Responsible for the authoring, submitting and tracking to completion of investigation and processing of Change Orders/Notifications (ECO’s, DCO’s, QCO’s) and NCR’s related to Facilities and Production, including project plans related to Plant Operations within the controlled and non-controlled environments.
  • Provides engineering and document support for Daily Operations, plant upgrades and renovations.
  • Responsible for supporting the nonconforming material report (NCR) process when product and equipment is impacted by an event.  Serve as the owner for such reports.
  • Provides engineering and document support for Daily Operations, plant upgrades and renovations
  • Interfaces with outside service providers.
  • Primary contact for all Facility/Maintenance (Operations) Engineering matters & requires on-call status.
  • Working knowledge of building systems including: HVAC, Electrical, Compressed Air, Nitrogen and purified water systems.
  • Interfaces with EH&S personnel on regarding chemical storage and disposal.
  • Interfaces with Manufacturing and Quality engineering to address production
  • Other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong Project management experience required.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, operating and maintenance instructions and execute in accordance with those documents/instructions.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in a Facility Engineering or management role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • 7 years’ experience in Facility/Maintenance Operations.
  • Clean room/Medical Device experience desired.
  • Licensure in HVAC and/or Electrical systems desired.
  • Safety, EPA & DES experience desired.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems for maintenance desired.
  • Experience with commercial CAD programs desired.

Quality Requirements:

  • Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all FDA and Worldwide Quality & Compliance regulations (As applicable to the job function).
  • Must have the education and experience to understand and comply with U.S. and Worldwide medical device regulations (As applicable to your job function).
  • Attend all required Quality & Compliance training at the specified interval.
  • Adopt the “Beyond Compliance Quality Culture” in the work environment; always meet and exceed requirements.

Environmental/Safety/Physical Work Conditions: 

  • Ensures environmental consciousness and safe practices are exhibited in decisions.
  • Use of computer and telephone equipment and other related office accessories/devices to complete assignments.
  • May work extended hours during peak business cycles.
