Technical lead into investigation and evaluation of new opportunities, consult and provide direction to an interdepartmental team responsible for the design and development of innovative products and technologies that fit with corporate business objectives and interests.

Job Functions

  • Identify areas of opportunity that fit with company technologies
  • Apply sound technical and business principles to investigate new product development projects.
  • Interact with other departments, such as management, research, engineering, marketing, and new business development to identify core technical competencies that fit with current business focus and expansion into new markets.
  • Prepare reports and present findings on new opportunities of interest, which includes information on technologies, devices, practices, and therapies; along with fit into current or future business plans.
  • Specify design requirements for current and future products by working closely with sales and marketing, and KOL clinicians.
  • Support Sales and Marketing in defining market and customer needs and in developing a business plan in target markets.
  • Provide technical and project leadership over complex design, development, and research projects.
  • Effectively and efficiently provide guidance to project teams in development of products and technologies from concept to commercialization.
  • Ensure schedules are well planned and followed.
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as necessary.
  • Contribute to company Intellectual Property. 
  • Evaluate patents for specific technology areas and participate in patent filings.
  • Review progress with senior management. 
  • Prepare and give oral presentations in a group setting. 
  • Coordinate and run team meetings.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems, ISO, GLP, GMP and FDA requirements
  • Expertise with PTFE processing
  • Experience with surgical and interventional medical device design highly desirable.
  • Proficient user of MS Office applications (Word/Excel).

Minimum Requirements:  

  • BS degree or higher, in engineering or physical/biological science or related field.   Experience in related field may be accepted in lieu of degree. 
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in managing research, design and development projects and project teams in the medical device/drug industry accompanied by strong technical skills as demonstrated by patents, publications or presentations.
