Job Functions:

The primary 'essential' duties and responsibilities for the subject position are as follows:

  • Provide technical support to R&D staff performing product and component testing with supervision, training, and direction as required.
  • Fabricate R&D product prototypes, including early-phase conceptual/feasibility prototypes, from informal or formal documentation.
  • Obtain and maintain knowledge of past and current products, including applicable assembly and testing methods.
  • Capture photographs, microscope photographs, video, and high-speed video as required
  • Conduct product and/or component testing including recording of written records per notebook studies and protocol-based testing
  • Set-up, debug, and run various test fixtures and test equipment, including PC-based data acquisition equipment.
  • Perform R&D test protocols and complete data analysis including detailed evaluation of component and/or product test failure modes.

The percentage distribution of the above tasks are determined by organizational and company priorities as communicated by upper management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Goal-oriented team player, functioning as individual contributor and project team member. Has excellent attention to detail, schedule-oriented, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good mathematical and basic statistical abilities
  • Able to work with small and fragile parts required to assemble and set-up test fixtures
  • Ability to work with varying levels of supervision
  • Able to read and interpret engineering  drawings, specifications, and protocols
  • Computer proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio)
  • Experience with PC-based data acquisition (Windaq, LabView, or equivalent) desirable
  • Basic CAD skills desirable
  • Prior experience in an R&D environment desirable
  • Prior experience medical product development and/or manufacturing
  • Experience with medical device R&D and/or Production test equipment and processes.
  • Experience with in vitro testing applicable to disposable/consumable medical devices desirable.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • HS diploma with 10 years of related experience with advanced training applicable to the specific position. Technical School training or an AAS degree with 5 - 10 years of related experience, or BS/BA degree and 2 - 5 years of experience.
