Job Function Summary:

Supports overall plant and corporate goals by providing engineering and project expertise to the Facility Operations Team related to Environmental and Sustainability initiatives.

Job Functions:

  • Analyze and identify ways and means (technical and procedural) to improve the effectiveness of energy consumption and sustainability facility-wide.
  • Work closely with the Facilities team to develop capital projects and advise on the development of energy conscious design, maintenance and operational policies.
  • Perform routine inspections of all buildings to detect waste and inefficiency, and identify opportunities for energy savings.
  • Research and seek funding and grants for energy projects. Initiate and implement energy conservation projects.
  • Keep abreast of potential energy and water saving products.
  • Manage energy consultants, including reviewing proposed energy saving measures and tracking actual savings.
  • Investigate and implement programs to reduce energy costs through the application of no cost/low cost initiatives to reduce energy expense through cost avoidance.
  • Analyze energy consumption histories on a regular basis to detect exceptions. 
  • Develop and manage performance metrics for energy and sustainability. Report on KPI’s related to ISO14001, energy, and recycling to corporate level.
  • Work with business, technology, EH&S and manufacturing resources to identify and optimize sustainability aspects of chemical products, end-use applications and end-of-life options.
  • Provide training as required to educate departments on “green initiatives” Responsible for the implementation, maintenance and facility certification to ISO14001, Environmental Management System.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought process.
  • Ability to identify problems and issues proactively.
  • Able to work effectively, reprioritize as new demands arise
  • Knowledge of EPA and DES regulations.
  • Ability to author studies, reports and proposals related to subject matter

Minimum Requirements: 

  • BS in Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications are required (Word/Excel).
